When do lychees ripen?

Evergreen tree, usually not more than 10 meters high, sometimes up to 15 meters or more, with gray-black bark; twigs cylindrical, brown-red, densely covered with white lenticels. Leaves with petioles are 10-25 cm long or longer; leaflets are 2 or 3 pairs, less often 4 pairs, thinly leathery or leathery, lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, sometimes oblong-lanceolate, 6-15 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, apex acuminate or caudate-short acuminate, entire, dark green and shiny on the ventral side, pink-green on the dorsal side, glabrous on both sides; lateral veins are often slender, not very obvious on the ventral side, obvious or slightly convex on the dorsal side; petiolules are 7-8 mm long. Inflorescence is terminal, broad, and branched; pedicels are slender, 2-4 mm long, sometimes thick and short; calyx is golden yellow with short hairs; stamens are 6-7, sometimes 8, filaments are about 4 mm long; ovary is densely covered with small tubercles and bristles. The fruit is ovoid to nearly spherical, 2 to 3.5 cm long, and usually dark red to bright red when ripe; the seeds are completely wrapped in a fleshy aril.
