How to grow cactus? Cultivation methods and precautions for cactus

Everyone must be familiar with cactus. It is the most common green plant in life, and it is tenacious and easy to cultivate. It has fine thorns on the surface, a small and exquisite posture, and has a strong ability to resist radiation. It can also purify indoor air. But how should cactus be raised? What should be paid attention to during its cultivation?

How to grow cactus How to grow cactus

1. Soil

When growing cacti, you must prepare suitable soil for it. It is a kind of succulent plant with strong drought resistance, but it likes loose and fertile soil with good drainage and strong air permeability. Therefore, when people grow cacti, they must have sufficient lime and add appropriate amounts of leaf mold and coarse sand.

2. Reasonable watering

Although the cactus has strong drought resistance during cultivation, it also needs a certain amount of water. This plant likes a humid environment. When watering it, you should pay attention to spraying water on its surface. Especially in spring, summer and autumn, which are the peak growth seasons of cactus, you should keep the soil in the pot moist and increase the number of water spraying. This can keep the air moist and promote the normal growth of the cactus.

Precautions for cultivating cactus

1. Fertilization method and time

When you grow a large number of cacti, you must pay attention to the method and time of fertilization. It is a fertilizer-loving plant. After repotting in spring, you should start applying fertilizer again. In other seasons, you should apply fertilizer every 20 days. It is best to choose mature liquid fertilizer. However, after entering winter, the cactus will enter a dormant state, so stop fertilizing at this time.

2. Change the pot in time

If you want a cactus to grow healthily, you must pay attention to changing the pot in time. This plant needs to be repotted once a year. Stop watering three days before repotting to keep the soil in the pot dry. When repotting, take out the cactus, cut off some of its old and rotten roots, and dry it in the sun for three days before repotting. Be sure to replace all the nutrient soil when repotting. After repotting, place it in a cool environment for 4 to 5 days to allow the seedlings to grow slowly.
