Other legends: According to legend, Zheng He, the eunuch of the Ming Dynasty, led a fleet to Southeast Asia three times. As the voyage was too long, many crew members were eager to return home. One day, Zheng He found a pile of strange fruits on the shore. He picked up a few and tasted them with everyone. Unexpectedly, most of the crew members praised them, which temporarily faded their homesickness. Someone asked Zheng He, "What is the name of this fruit?" He answered casually, "Liulian". Later, people changed it to "durian".

Tips

1. The durian that naturally cracks after maturity cannot be stored for too long; if you smell a smell of alcohol, it must have gone bad, so don't buy it;

2. Because durian has a thick texture and easily accumulates in the intestines, drinking more boiled water can aid digestion.

How to eat

Durian cannot be picked, otherwise it will affect its maturity and the fruit tree will be damaged. Ripe durian will fall in the middle of the night or early morning, just pick it up. There are many types of durian, including golden pillow, gourd, Kunbao and other varieties. Good durian should not have too much water in the flesh nor be too dry and hard, but soft and moist with a slight bitter taste. Durian seeds are rich in protein. After frying or boiling, peel and eat. The taste is similar to chestnuts and can increase physical strength.

Durian is oval in shape and generally weighs about two kilograms. It has a wooden hard shell on the outside and several chambers inside. Each chamber contains three or four seeds as big as egg yolks, a total of ten to fifteen seeds. The seeds are covered with a layer of ointment, which is the flesh, which is creamy yellow. It tastes sweet and fragrant. The quality of durian can be determined from the skin. Those with thick and sparse conical thorns are generally well-developed, with many fruit grains and thick and delicate flesh; if the thorns are sharp and dense, the fruit grains and flesh are thin and the flesh is coarse.

When buying durian, you should choose fruits with hilly appearance, complete and regular fruit shape, dark brown skin and strong flavor. If you feel something when shaking it, it is a top-quality fruit. Don't think that the heavier the better. In fact, lighter durians often have small cores, but don't choose durians that look green. The durian you buy should be tightly wrapped in newspapers to prevent its thorns from hurting children. Durian has a ripening effect and should be stored in a cool place. The ripe fruit will crack. At this time, you can take out the flesh, put it in a fresh-keeping bag and store it in the refrigerator. After being chilled, it will have the taste of ice cream. If the flesh becomes sour, it means that the durian has deteriorated and should not be eaten.

Although durian is delicious, you should not eat too much at one time, otherwise it will easily cause the body to become hot and dry. Its rich nutrition will also cause internal heat because the stomach and intestines cannot fully absorb it. The way to eliminate the heat is to drink some light salt water or eat some fruits with more water to balance it. Pears and watermelons are good choices. However, the best partner of durian is mangosteen, which is known as the queen of fruits. Only it can easily subdue the heat of the king of fruits and protect the body from damage.

Durian stewed chicken

Soup is the best. This soup is nourishing but not dry, and it is mild in nature. It also has a variety of therapeutic effects, including nourishing blood and qi, moisturizing and nourishing yin. It is suitable for people of different physiques and is most suitable for autumn and winter. Preparation: 1. Wash and peel the chicken, put it in boiling water, soak for about 5 minutes, and chop it into large pieces; soak the walnut kernels in water to remove the oily smell; wash and remove the core of the red dates; remove the tender skin of the durian, leaving large pieces of skin.
