Hometown of Chinese peaches

At the end of 2004, the State Forestry Administration announced the results of the third batch of China's famous, special and excellent economic forest towns. After recommendations from various places and evaluation by experts, Nanhui District of Shanghai was named "China's Peach Town" with absolute advantage. Nanhui peaches originated from Shanghai peaches and have unique product value. The earliest documented record of peaches can be found in the Ming Dynasty's "Qunfang Pu", which states: "Peaches are unique to Shanghai, and those produced in Gu Shangbao's West Garden are particularly good." Later, with the expansion of Shanghai, Shanghai peaches developed in the suburbs and gradually evolved into Nanhui peaches.
