How to grow coral ferns? How to grow and propagate coral ferns

Coral fern is a small and exquisite green foliage plant. It is a kind of Selaginella and a perennial green herb. It used to be mainly wild and was called the "pioneer" of the earth. Later, after being domesticated, it became a hot-selling potted plant in the flower market. So how should this kind of potted plant be raised? How should it be propagated during the breeding process?

How to grow coral fern

1. Sunlight

The leaves of the coral fern are evergreen all year round. It is necessary to provide it with sufficient light when cultivating it. Although it can grow in a semi-shaded environment, the color of the leaves will become lighter and thinner over time, which will affect its ornamental value. Therefore, it is best to place it in an environment with sufficient scattered light. In summer, it must not be exposed to direct sunlight.

2. Humidity

When growing coral ferns, you must pay attention to maintaining the air humidity. This plant likes a warm and humid environment. If the air humidity is too low, it will be detrimental to its growth. Under normal circumstances, in dry weather, you should spray water on its leaves in time, but you cannot allow water to accumulate on the leaves, otherwise the leaves will rot.

3. Temperature and fertilizer

Coral ferns prefer a warm environment during their growth period. The outside temperature is between 20 and 28 degrees, which is most conducive to their growth. The temperature of the breeding environment in winter cannot be lower than 10 degrees. Coral ferns do not require much fertilizer during their growth period. Usually, they can be top-dressed once every two weeks. The fertilizer should be a thin liquid fertilizer.

How coral ferns reproduce

Coral ferns can be propagated by cuttings. When people usually prune this plant, they can cut off the branches and remove the leaves at the bottom and then make cuttings directly. Before cutting, you should prepare loose, fertile and moist soil, insert the prepared cuttings directly into the soil, fix them, water them enough, and keep them in a warm and sunny environment. After fifteen days, it will grow new roots, and a new plant will be formed.
