Roses are a symbol of love, the embodiment of beauty, and the most popular ornamental plant in life. They can be made into cut flowers and potted plants at home. However, people don’t know much about how to grow roses, and they don’t dare to try it easily. Today, I will write down all the planting methods so that everyone can easily understand how to grow roses.

How to plant roses

1. Choose the right soil

When planting roses, you must choose suitable soil. The germination rate of seeds of this plant is relatively low. When planting, you must choose fertile soil that is loose, breathable and has strong water retention capacity. When making potted plants, you can use vermiculite, peat, sphagnum moss, perlite and other materials to prepare the potting soil. If you are afraid of trouble, you can also prepare general weakly acidic soil.

2. Seed treatment

Before planting roses, its seeds must be pre-treated. They should be soaked in warm water at about 40 degrees for no less than six hours. After taking out the soaked seeds, plant them in the prepared soil. After it germinates and grows 4 to 6 true leaves, it can be transplanted into a flowerpot for normal cultivation.

3. Sunlight and temperature

Sunlight and temperature are two necessary conditions for growing roses. This plant likes a sunny environment, and it should receive at least 4 to 5 hours of sunshine every day. Try not to put it indoors in places with insufficient light. If it is grown indoors, it must be placed on a sunny balcony or windowsill. Roses do not require high ambient temperature during their growth period. They can grow normally when the outside temperature is between 12 and 28 degrees.

4. Water and fertilizer

After planting roses, the supply of water and fertilizer is also very important. This plant is relatively drought-resistant, so it does not need excessive watering. Water it every 5 to 7 days. When watering, just water it enough to ensure that there is no water accumulation in the flowerpot. During the growth period, roses do not require much fertilizer. Usually, topdressing is done once every month. The fertilizer can be a nutritionally balanced compound fertilizer.
