Winter melon planting method and time

Winter melon planting method and time

Winter melon is a common dish and the main dish on people’s tables in winter. It can promote diuresis and reduce swelling, protect the heart, and lose weight. It is one of the favorite ingredients of many people. Some people also want to grow some winter melon themselves, but they don’t know its planting method and time. Today, the editor will introduce it to you.

1. Planting time

Since the planting time is different in different regions, its seeds can germinate quickly when the outside temperature is between 29 and 30 degrees, and winter melon is divided into early-maturing varieties and late-maturing varieties. I plant winter melon in warm areas such as Guangzhou and Guangdong, and I can sow it in January each year. When planting winter melon in Sichuan, Hubei and other regions, I need to sow it in February to March each year. The temperature in some northern regions is lower, and I need to sow winter melon after the weather warms up in May.

2. Seedling cultivation

When braking or driving, be sure to prepare the seeds for seedlings in advance, because the seed skin of winter melon is particularly thick and has poor water permeability. It takes at least 15 days from sowing to germination of the first leaf. If you want to shorten its germination time, you can soak its seeds in 55-degree warm water for a few minutes, take them out and place them in a warm environment for germination, and then sow them in the soil after the seeds grow new buds.

3. Daily management

After planting, you must pay attention to its daily management, especially after it starts to grow, you must control the water to prevent it from growing too tall. Reducing the water can also make its root system stronger, which is conducive to the growth after fruiting. It will bloom and bear fruit after about 50 days of planting. I have a particularly high demand for nutrients after fruiting. Only one or two fruits are left on each plant. If too many are retained, they will fall off during the growth process.
