The difference between purple dendrobium and candidum

Both Dendrobium officinale and Dendrobium purpurogenum are important members of the 15 family, but their prices in the market are very different. So what is the difference between Dendrobium officinale and Dendrobium purpurogenum, which are only one word apart? What is the reason for the huge difference in their economic value? If you want to know more about this, you can read the detailed introduction of the difference between them below.

The difference between purple dendrobium and candidum

1. Color

There is a clear difference in color between purple dendrobium and candidum. The appearance of purple dendrobium is mostly purple, while the appearance of candidum is mostly dark brown or yellowish brown after being collected. This is the biggest difference between the two. In addition, purple dendrobium can now be cultivated artificially, while candidum is mostly wild.

2. Form

Although both Dendrobium officinale and Dendrobium officinale are food plants, they are somewhat different in terms of biological morphology. Dendrobium officinale does not have such high requirements for the growth environment, and it can grow to more than 40 cm when it grows up, and its stem is relatively thin, while Dendrobium officinale can only grow to about 20 cm when it grows up, and will not exceed 30 cm at most, and its stem is short and thick.

3. Taste

After harvesting, both fresh purple dendrobium and candidum can be eaten directly, but the taste of the two is very different. When you chew fresh purple dendrobium, you will feel that it has obvious fiber and residue, and sometimes it will get stuck in your teeth. The taste of candidum is much better than that of purple dendrobium. When you eat it directly, it will make people feel smooth and sweet, and there will be no obvious residue and fiber.

4. Nutritional value

There are also certain differences in the nutritional value of Dendrobium officinale and Dendrobium candidum. Although both are 15 and contain similar nutrients, the content of many nutrients in Dendrobium officinale is far lower than that in Dendrobium purple. That is to say, people can absorb more nutrients after eating Dendrobium officinale and achieve better health benefits. This is also the main reason why the selling price of Dendrobium candidum is much higher than that of Dendrobium officinale.
