How to store cherries

How to store cherries

Cherry is a nutritious fruit with a large yield. It is one of the tastier cherries, but how do you preserve it? Here I will tell you how to preserve cherries.

How to store cherries

Natural preservation method: Cherries produced by facility cultivation should be easier to preserve, because facility-cultivated cherries generally mature in April when the temperature is relatively low. Just put the freshly selected cherries in a fruit box and then put them in a cool and ventilated room and they can be preserved for about 7 days. If the cherries are cultivated in the open field, they will not mature until June. At this time, before the cherries mature, you can dig a long trench in a cool and ventilated place (the size of the trench depends on the size of the cherry box), put the picked cherries in it, and then put them in the pre-dug trench. In order to maintain a certain temperature and humidity in the trench, cover the trench with dry straw, etc. This method can also preserve the cherries for about 7 days.

Mechanical refrigeration preservation method: This method requires the temperature to be controlled at -1°~1℃, and the humidity at 85%~90%. First, use air cooling to lower the temperature of the cherries to 1℃, and then store them in a cold storage. This method can keep the cherries for about 30 days.

Controlled atmosphere storage method for cherries :

First, pack the picked cherries in silicone rubber window plastic bags. Before storing them in controlled atmosphere, use mechanical refrigeration to pre-cool the cherries to about 1°C. Then put the packed cherries in a storage warehouse with a temperature of 90% to 95% humidity, 10% CO2, and 1% O2 under controlled atmosphere conditions. This method can keep the cherries for about 45 to 60 days. However, this method requires gradually raising the temperature of the storage warehouse before the cherries are put on the market.
