How to grow dahlias Things to note when growing dahlias

Dahlias have bright colors, particularly large flowers, and emerald green leaves. They are the most popular ornamental plants in life. They can be grown on a large scale and made into potted plants and grown at home. However, people don’t know much about their growth methods, and some people don’t know what to pay attention to when growing dahlias. Today, the editor will introduce this knowledge to you.

How to grow dahlias

1. Time for potting

Dahlias can be planted in large areas by sowing in spring every year. If they are planted in pots, they need to be transplanted from the flower fields to pots around mid-October every year. One to two dahlias can be planted in each pot. After planting, the surface should be sprayed with a new lipid film to promote rapid growth of the plants.

2. Sunlight and moisture

Dahlia is a plant that likes plenty of sunlight. It can be placed in a sunny environment for cultivation. It also likes a humid environment. During the cultivation period, the environment must be kept moist and the soil must be watered in time. If the dahlia is deprived of water during the growth period, it will easily cause a variety of adverse symptoms such as shrinkage, yellowing and flower shedding.

Precautions for dahlia cultivation

1. Pay attention to soil quality

When you grow dahlias, you must pay attention that this plant prefers slightly acidic sandy soil and must not be planted in alkaline soil or clay soil. Moreover, during the cultivation period, new potting soil must be replaced in early spring every year, otherwise it will show various adverse symptoms such as flower color fade, root rot and death.

2. Timely pinching

When growing dahlias, you should also pay attention to timely pinching. When the height of the plant grows to 10 to 12 cm, you should pinch it in time. This will promote the growth of new flower branches. When the number of branches in each pot reaches 6 to 8, you should pinch it again. It is best to do this 40 to 50 days before the Spring Festival, so that the flowering period of the dahlia can be controlled during the Spring Festival.
