Cultivation methods and precautions of Baolian Denghua

The leaves of the cardinal lantern are green, the flowers are bright, and the fragrance is pleasant. It is the favorite ornamental plant of many people. Usually, they also want to grow it at home, but they don’t know how to grow it well. In fact, the cultivation method of this plant is not complicated. I will write it down and share it with you later.

1. Reproduction method

The plant is usually propagated by cuttings or sowing. If you choose cuttings, you can choose to do it in early summer or autumn. When cutting, you need to select 18 to 15 cm semi-lignified tender shoots and insert them directly into peat moss. New roots will grow after 25 days. If you choose sowing, you need to sow in August every year and the seeds will germinate 20 days later.

2. Culture soil

It is very important to choose the right culture soil when growing the cardinal flower! This plant likes fertile, loose, slightly acidic soil with high humus content. Usually, you can choose compound leaf soil or peat soil and add a certain amount of base fertilizer to grow the cardinal flower. In addition, during the cultivation process, you must keep the pot soil moist and not let it lack water.

3. Daily maintenance

It is also very important to take care of the plant in daily life. The flowering period of this plant is from April to June every year. During this period, the humidity should not be too high, otherwise the flowers will fall off. In addition, when cultivating the plant indoors in winter, the light should be increased appropriately, the amount of watering should be reduced, and the indoor temperature should not be lower than 16 degrees, otherwise it will stop growing and die directly if the temperature is too low.

4. Pest and disease control

During the cultivation period, the Chinese lantern will also be susceptible to some diseases and insect pests. Net rot and leaf spot are its most common diseases. After these diseases occur, it is necessary to spray 70% methyl thiophanate wettable powder in time, once every three days, and three consecutive times to control the disease. In addition, it is also prone to backbiting and scale insects during its growth period. At this time, it is necessary to spray 50% dichlorvos emulsifiable concentrate to eliminate pests.
