How to grow clematis? How to grow clematis in summer

Clematis grows near water or in moist areas. Nowadays, it is popular to grow hydroponic plants in offices or homes. This kind of clematis can represent auspiciousness or peace. Here is an introduction to the summer planting method of clematis .

How to plant Clematis in summer

Principle: Ensure water supply, ventilation, stop fertilizing before the end of August, and prevent thrips.

First, we divide by category.

1. A type of variety.

Clematis will continue to grow in summer. Manage it normally, pay attention to spider mites and thrips, and spray it once every two weeks. Do not let the long petals get wet in the rain. As long as there are new branches sprouting, the long petals will bloom and continue until autumn. It is evergreen, while Montana only grows branches. Never forget to water it. If the capillary root variety lacks water, it will die.

Examples of varieties: Long petals (Bluebird, Pink Maca, Cecil), Evergreen (Spring Morning Message, Silver Coin, Apple Blossom), Montana (Pink Rose, Green Eyes, Superstar)

2. The second category (including utopia, memory, and blessing).

In early spring, Clematis blooms in large numbers. Cut off the remaining flowers after flowering. It is also OK to cut off the branches that have bloomed. About a month after flowering, some new axillary buds will sprout. If they develop well, they can bloom. The old leaves will turn brown. The temperature will gradually rise from May. June is the rainy season in the south of the Yangtze River. If the medium is not breathable and the branches are buried deep, wilt disease is more likely to occur. Pay attention to thrips and insect pests on new branches.

Examples of varieties: Pink Champagne, Bee Love, Andromeda, Crystal Fountain, Josephine, Woking Beauty, Ice Beauty, Elsa, etc.

3. Three types of varieties.

After the first batch of clematis flowers bloom, you can cut off all the nodes that have bloomed. New branches will bloom again in about a month.

Examples of varieties: Italian (Purple Cloud, Violet Star, Super Jack, Margaret Hunter). Full edge (Rugu, Duran, Dancer, Aleow)

4. F series (except Utopia, Memories, and Blessings), a unique summer dormant variety.

After flowering, cut off the remaining flowers, leaving branches and leaves to increase water evaporation and reduce the occurrence of wilt. It is okay to be exposed to rain, but do not give fertilizer. The manifestation of dormancy is that the leaves turn yellow and black. After dormancy, you can cut short the branches and cut off the dead leaves. But it is recommended to prune the branches around the end of August, because at this time the F series should wake up and produce branches and flowers again.

Examples of varieties: Little Green, Phantom Purple, Miss Kyoko, Cassis

5. Avenue.

It is recommended to prune lightly after flowering, and cut off the nodes that have bloomed. New branches that sprout before the end of June can basically bloom again. In summer, they are managed as Class II. Examples of varieties: Picardy, Cezanne, Parisian Style, Oulala, Beer

Thrips can cause new shoots to turn black. If you find that the new shoots of Clematis are burnt black after eliminating fertilizer damage, you should consider whether it is caused by thrips. Fertilizer damage mainly causes black leaf tips, while thrips cause the leaves of young shoots to turn black to the petiole. Thrips started to appear in my garden in July, but they appeared on roses in May this year. Using drugs such as avermectin and ant worm can prevent it. After an outbreak, you can spray it once every three days, and spray the above drugs three times in a row.

1. Summer planting method of Clematis - hydroponics

Clematis does not have any requirements for water quality, ordinary fresh water is enough. The salinity of the water for planting clematis should not be too high, the pH value can be controlled at around 6.5, and slightly acidic water is more suitable. Clematis grows very vigorously, so it needs to be top-dressed, and it is more appropriate to choose water-soluble fertilizers.

2. Clematis summer planting method - light

Clematis likes a warm environment with a humid growing environment. Clematis is more suitable for a light or semi-shaded environment. Clematis is very direct sunlight, and this direct light cannot make clematis grow healthily. If planted indoors, it is recommended to use light to grow clematis to get healthy leaves.

3. Clematis summer planting method - soil temperature

Clematis can also be planted in soil, choose a soft soil with good drainage. If you choose to grow clematis hydroponically, you can control the temperature to be relatively warm. Clematis is very afraid of cold, so be extra careful in winter.
