The flying saucer melon is edible and ornamental. It is one of the annual special-shaped vegetables of the Cucurbitaceae family. Because its fruit looks like a flying saucer, it is named flying saucer melon. It is mostly milky white or light green in appearance, tastes delicious, and can be preserved as a handicraft after picking. The market value is particularly high. However, this plant often suffers from diseases and insect pests during cultivation. How should we prevent and control them in normal times?

1. Powdery mildew

Powdery mildew is the most common disease of flying saucer melon during cultivation. This disease is usually mainly prevented. Before the onset of the disease, you can spray it with 25% wettable powder of Ridomil. After using the medicine, spray it again after three days to effectively prevent the occurrence of powdery mildew.

2. Viral diseases and epidemics

Virus disease and blight are also common diseases of flying saucer melon. To reduce the occurrence of these diseases, you can spray 40% of ethylene phosphate aluminum manganese zinc on the flying saucer melon. The drug needs to be used continuously for 3 to 5 times, and there should be an interval of 3 to 5 days between each application. In addition, crop rotation is also the main way to prevent virus disease and blight of flying saucer melon.

3. Aphid disease

Aphid disease is the most common insect pest during the growth period of the flying saucer melon. After this pest occurs, it can be treated with drugs. You can choose to spray 10% of Net 300 on the leaves, or you can spray the pesticide pyrethroid. However, the drug must be diluted before use, otherwise it will damage the leaves of the flying saucer melon.
