Cultivation and management of onions

Cultivation and management of onions

Onions, also known as onions, are common vegetables in our daily lives. They are rich in nutrition, have excellent health benefits, and have a particularly long shelf life. They are the most popular economic crops for people to grow. However, some people want to grow onions, but they don't know how to grow and manage them, and they miss many opportunities to get rich. The cultivation and management of onions are not complicated. I will introduce them to you in detail in a while.

Cultivation and management of onions

1. Onion seedling cultivation

When cultivating onions, they are usually sown around September 20th every year. Three hundred grams of seeds are needed per mu. Before raising the seedlings, the surface of the bed should be prepared, shallow furrows should be drawn, and the seeds should be scattered in them. The top layer should be covered with one centimeter of soil, and then watered after being compacted.

2. Planting at the right time

When cultivating onions, timely transplanting is also very important. The ideal transplanting time should be in early November every year. Before transplanting, it is necessary to grade and separate the large seedlings from the small seedlings. When transplanting, the large seedlings should be transplanted first, and then the small seedlings. The transplanting depth should also be paid attention to. If it is too deep, the onions will grow into a spindle shape, and the yield will be very low. If it is too shallow, the onions will fall over. The correct depth should be about one centimeter to bury the bulb.

3. Field management of onions

The field management of onions is not complicated. You should water them once before the onions freeze every year, and water them again when the onions are green in the second year. In addition, when the bulbs grow rapidly, you should increase the frequency of watering, about once a week, to keep the soil moist. However, you should stop watering about ten days before the onions are harvested. When the onions enter the green period, you should apply fertilizer in time, and apply some nitrogen fertilizer and potassium fertilizer. In addition, you should apply fertilizer once in April and May, and 20 kilograms of urea and potassium sulfate per mu.
