The cultivation technology of shiitake mushrooms is very important, let’s take a look! 【1】Setting up of mushroom farm1) Choose a venue The two-field system for cultivating shiitake mushrooms, where mycelium is cultivated in the initiation field and mushrooms are grown on wooden platforms in the fruiting field, is more conducive to obtaining high-quality and high-yield cultivation. However, due to field limitations in China, the actual operation is mostly carried out in the one-field system, that is, inoculation to fruiting is carried out in the same field. A good mushroom farm should be located in a sunny area that is away from the north wind, has good resources, is close to a water source, has shade from trees, is rich in gravel, and has a slightly acidic, gently sloping land. 2) Clean up the site ① According to the requirement of three parts exposure and seven parts shade at the turn of spring and summer, cut low and leave high to facilitate operation management and ventilation of the site. ② Clear the dead branches, leaves, bark, roots, and rotten objects within a few meters outside the site, and eradicate the breeding grounds of fungi and pests. ③ According to the flat terrain, build pedestrian walkways, clear ditches and drain water, and other facilities. ④ When natural shade is insufficient, build a shade shed (2m high) or plant plants or melons to provide shade in the future. ⑤ The last step of cleaning the mushroom farm is to spread lime on the ground to eliminate insects and termites and inhibit the spread of bacteria.【2】Mushroom tree selection and log preparation1) Selection of mushroom trees There are no less than 200 species of trees that can be used to grow shiitake mushrooms, most of which are broad-leaved trees belonging to the Fagaceae, Betulaceae and Hamamelidaceae families. The mushroom trees must meet the following conditions: ① Does not contain aromatic oil substances. ②The bark is of moderate thickness and is not easy to fall off, which is conducive to regulating temperature and humidity and reducing the chance of infection by miscellaneous bacteria. ③ The wood should be reasonably solid, with more sapwood and less heartwood, which is conducive to the full decomposition and utilization of shiitake mushroom mycelium.2) Tree diameter and age It is not suitable to use trees that are too thick or too thin for growing shiitake mushrooms. Generally, trees with a diameter of 12-20cm at breast height and a tree age of 10-25 years are more suitable. Trees with thinner bark can be older; trees with thicker bark can be younger. Thin-barked trees produce mushrooms quickly, but the mushroom caps are thin and the mushrooms are flossy; thick-barked trees produce mushrooms slowly, but the quality of the mushrooms is good. The heartwood of young wood is small, and mushrooms are produced early after inoculation. The produced shiitake mushrooms are thinner and smaller, and the wood is easy to rot, so the continuous production period is short. 3) Timber preparation: It mainly includes tree felling, log drying and branch pruning. ① Cut trees at the right time. It is recommended to cut trees when the leaves turn yellow, which means they are in the dormant stage. At this time, the nutrients stored are the most abundant, the bark and the wood are tightly combined, and it is not easy to peel off when moving. The cut mushroom wood is called log. ② Drying the logs properly is actually to adjust the water content of the logs, so as to facilitate the colonization and growth of the mycelium after inoculation. The water content of different tree species is different, so the drying time is also different. It is usually appropriate to dry until there is no germination after drying, or when the sap does not seep out when the inoculation hole is drilled. At this time, the water content is about 40-45%. ③ After the pruned logs are properly dried (when several short cracks appear on the cross section of the logs), they should be pruned in time. The pruned logs are called logs. The length of the logs should be 1.0-1.2m. If there are small branches, 3-5cm can be left at the bifurcation before cutting off the branches. Do not cut them flat to avoid increasing the incision area and increasing the chance of infection. After pruning, the cross section should be painted with 5% fresh lime milk as soon as possible to prevent bacteria from invading through the wound. |
