About Onion

Onion is a herbaceous plant of the Liliaceae family, a biennial or perennial plant, and a very common and cheap home-cooked vegetable. It is native to western Asia and is cultivated in various parts of my country and is available all year round. The edible part of onions is the underground hypertrophic bulb (i.e. onion head). The quality requirements for onions are: large onions, shiny skin, not rotten, free of mechanical damage and dirt, fresh onions without leaves; after storage, they should not be soft or sprouting, have tight scales, low water content, and have strong spicy and sweet taste.

Cutting onions is particularly easy to irritate the eyes, but as long as you soak the onions in cold water for a while before cutting them, and soak the knife, you won't shed tears when cutting. Putting the onions in the refrigerator to freeze for a while before cutting them will also achieve better results.

How to eat onions

Cut off the roots of the onion, peel off the old skin, wash off the sand, and eat it raw or cooked. Dishes made with it include "Onion Fried Pork Shreds" and "Onion Braised Pork Chops".

Fried meat with onion

1. Wash and drain the beef, cut it into small pieces, add 1/3 spoon of starch, 1/3 spoon of soy sauce, 1/3 spoon of sugar, and 1 spoon of cooking wine, mix well, and marinate for a while. Add half a spoon of salad oil before putting it into the frying pan to lock in the moisture of the beef.
2. Stir-fry quickly, so prepare the seasoning first: 1 spoon of water, 1/2 spoon of chili sauce, 1/2 spoon of soy sauce, 1/2 spoon of sesame oil, 1/2 spoon of salt, 1/3 spoon of sugar
3. Chop the ginger into fine pieces. Cut the onions: Cut the onions into strips against the grain, so that the fried onions will have a crispier texture.
4. Add oil to the pan, heat it to 80%, turn off the heat, and fry the beef and onions together. Frying the onions first can remove the spicy taste of onions.
5. Remove and drain oil
6. Leave a little oil in the pan and sauté the minced ginger over high heat.
7. Turn to low heat and add onion beef
8. Pour the sauce, turn to high heat, and stir-fry until the sauce is thickened.
9. Add a little cooking wine before serving.

Onion is one of the main vegetables in Western cuisine. It can be used to make soup, ingredients, seasonings and cold dishes. It should not be heated for too long, and it is better to have a slightly spicy taste.

4. When the tomato juice comes out, add sugar and black pepper, simmer on medium heat for about 10 minutes, stir a few times in the middle to prevent the bottom from getting burnt. When the juice is slightly dry, add salt and basil leaves and mix well before serving.
