Precautions for eating oranges in early winter

Now is the season for eating oranges. Oranges are high in water content and rich in nutrients, including more than 10 kinds of nutrients such as vitamin C, citric acid and glucose. If eaten properly, they can benefit the body, especially for patients with chronic hepatitis and hypertension. Eating more tangerines can improve the liver's detoxification function, accelerate cholesterol conversion, and prevent arteriosclerosis. Proper consumption can increase appetite, but improper consumption is not beneficial.

Therefore, the following points should be noted when eating oranges:

1. Control the amount of food you eat.

It is estimated that eating 3 oranges a day can meet a person's daily requirement for vitamin C. If you eat too much and take in too much vitamin C, the amount of oxalic acid metabolized in the body will increase, which can easily cause urinary stones and kidney stones.

2. Oranges should not be eaten with radishes.

After radish enters the human body, it will quickly produce a substance called sulfate, which is quickly metabolized to produce an anti-thyroid substance - thiocyanate. If you eat oranges at this time, the flavonoids in the oranges will be broken down in the intestines and converted into hydroxybenzoic acid and ferulic acid, which can enhance the inhibitory effect of thiocyanate on the thyroid gland, thereby inducing or causing goiter.

3. Oranges and milk should not be eaten together.

The protein in milk easily reacts with the fruit acid and vitamin C in oranges and coagulates into lumps, which not only affects digestion and absorption, but also causes symptoms such as abdominal distension, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.

In addition, the elderly with weak gastrointestinal, kidney, and lung functions should not eat too much, so as to avoid inducing abdominal pain, sore waist and knees, and other diseases.
