In addition, sweet potatoes contain a lot of sugar, which the body cannot absorb all at once. The remaining part stays in the intestines and is easy to ferment, causing abdominal discomfort. According to traditional Chinese medicine, people with dampness blocking the spleen and stomach, qi stagnation and food accumulation should be careful when eating sweet potatoes.

The shortcoming of sweet potatoes is that they lack protein and fat. However, people today live a wealthy life and no longer use sweet potatoes as their staple food. The nutrients they lack can be supplemented through other diets.

According to Mr. Gao, an expert from the Chinese Nutrition Society, sweet potatoes and persimmons should not be eaten at the same time in a short period of time. If you eat a lot, they should be separated by at least five hours.

If eaten at the same time, the sugar in the sweet potato will ferment in the stomach, which will increase the secretion of gastric acid, and react with the tannins and pectin in the persimmon to precipitate and condense, forming lumps. In severe cases, it can cause gastrointestinal bleeding or gastric ulcers.
