Common diseases of peas

Common diseases of peas

Here are some common diseases of peas. Do we know how to prevent and control them when we grow peas?

Pea stem rot

Symptoms

It harms the base and vines of pea stems. The affected stems initially develop oval brown spots, which spread around the stems and eventually cause the stems to become necrotic, gray-brown to gray-white and wither. The upper stipules and leaflets also gradually wither. In the later stage, small black grains appear on the surface of the dead stems.

Disease pattern:

The pathogen is Coccidioides vulgaris of the subphylum Ascomycota. The pathogen and the characteristics of the disease are the same as those of cowpea stem rot.

Prevention and treatment methods:

(1) This disease can be combined with the prevention and control of pea anthracnose, and generally does not need to be controlled separately

(2) In the fields where this disease is the main problem, you can also spray 40% 600 times diluted Fuxing No. 1 or 70% mancozeb 800 times diluted, 2 to 3 times or more, once every 10 to 15 days, spray densely at the beginning and sparsely at the end, and spray alternately. Focus on spraying the base of the stem.

Pea mosaic disease

Symptoms

The whole plant is infected. The diseased plant is stunted, the leaves become smaller and wrinkled, the leaf color is uneven, and it is in a mosaic pattern, and there are few or no pods.

Disease pattern:

The pathogen is a virus. The disease is caused by multiple viruses alone or in combination. The virus survives the winter on the host and is transmitted through the sap or by aphids. The virus is transmitted through seeds. Generally, weather or ecological environment that is conducive to the reproduction of aphids is conducive to the disease.

Prevention and treatment methods:

(1) Discover the disease early and remove it promptly.

(2) Spray pesticides in a timely and comprehensive manner to kill aphids. Use 2000 times diluted 50% anti-aphid emulsifiable concentrate, one pack of Golden Century diluted with 30 kg of water, or 1500 times diluted 10% pyraclostrobin wettable powder to spray and kill them. Rotate or mix them, once every 8 to 10 days, and spray 2 to 3 times in a row. Joint prevention is as large as possible, and the effect is obvious.
