How to make watermelon chicken?

We have all eaten watermelon, but have you ever eaten watermelon chicken? I was quite surprised when I heard the name for the first time. I was curious about how it was made. So today I will tell you how to make watermelon chicken:

Watermelon Chicken Recipe Ingredients:

1000 grams of chicken, 2000 grams of watermelon, 25 grams of ham, 25 grams of mushrooms (fresh), 45 grams of winter bamboo shoots, 25 grams of rice wine, 12 grams of salt, and 4 grams of ginger.

How to make watermelon chicken?

Watermelon Chicken Recipe:

1. Break the chicken's leg bones, chop off the spine and neck bones (without breaking the skin), and wash;

Tie the green onions into knots and slice the ginger for later use;

2. Wash and slice the winter bamboo shoots thinly, blanch them in boiling water and set aside;

3. Wash and slice the mushrooms;

4. Put the chicken into the wok, add chicken broth (2000 ml), put it on high heat, skim off the foam after boiling, and continue to cook for 5 minutes;

5. Take out the chicken, clean it and put it back into the original pot. Place it on low heat and cook until it is 80% cooked. Take it out and put it into a soup bowl.

6. Add salt and rice wine to the original soup pot and bring to a boil. Skim off the foam and pour into the soup bowl with the chicken. Add scallion knots and ginger slices. Cover the bowl with a round plate and steam over high heat for about 30 minutes until crispy. Remove and pick out the scallions and ginger.

7. While the chicken is steaming, use a small sharp knife to carve a zigzag pattern (deep into the flesh) around the top of the watermelon (choose a round one) (about one-fifth of the way through the watermelon), and take out the top to use as a watermelon cover;

8. Scoop out the melon pulp, carve patterns or words on the melon skin, blanch it in boiling water for about 2 minutes until the melon skin changes color (do not allow boiling water to seep into the melon), and place it in a large bowl;

9. Place the chicken (breast side up) into the watermelon and pour in the original chicken soup;

10. Place the ham, bamboo shoots and mushroom slices neatly on the chicken breast;

11. Cover the watermelon with a lid, steam it in a steamer over high heat for 5 minutes and serve.

Health Tips:

Watermelon should not be eaten with mutton.
