Potato is an annual herb of the Solanaceae family, Solanum genus. Its tubers are edible and are an important food and vegetable crop.

For example: In my country: in the southern Shandong region (Tengzhou), it is called ground egg, in Yunnan and Guizhou, it is called taro or foreign yam, in Guangxi, it is called Fanguicishu, in Shanxi, it is called yam egg, in some parts of Anhui, it is also called sweet potato, and in the northeastern provinces, it is mostly called potato. Potatoes are also called potatoes, foreign potatoes, foreign yam, yam eggs, steamed bun eggs, and potatoes (the common name of people in Hong Kong and Guangzhou), etc. Although some regions call potatoes "yam eggs", there are actually things called yam eggs. Therefore, it is necessary to distinguish them clearly and not to misunderstand. Italians call it ground beans, French people call it ground apples, Germans call it ground pears, Americans call it Irish yam potatoes, and Russians call it Dutch potatoes.
