Difference between custard apple and litchi

When people buy fruits, they often think that sugar apple and lychee are closely related. Some people even think that they are the same kind of fruit. In fact, sugar apple and lychee are two completely different fruits. Although they both have the word "inspiration" in their names, there are essential differences between them. Next, I will introduce the differences between them in detail.

Difference between custard apple and litchi

1. Plant species

Sugar apple and litchi belong to different plant species. Sugar apple belongs to the Annonaceae family. The genus Annona is a deciduous, small tree. The bark of this plant is particularly thin, mostly grayish white, and has many branches. Litchi belongs to the genus Litchi of the Sapindaceae family. It is an evergreen tall tree. After the plant grows up, its height does not exceed ten meters.

2. Fruit appearance

The appearance of the sugar apple and lychee fruit is very different. Although they are both oval fruits, the sugar apple fruit is mostly green in appearance and has multiple bumps, while the lychee fruit is mostly red in appearance and has scaly protrusions on its surface.

3. Meat texture

The flesh structure of sugar apple and lychee is also very different. After removing the peel of sugar apple, although its flesh is white, it has multiple seeds wrapped in the petal-shaped flesh. However, after removing the shell of lychee, you can get the white flesh inside, and in the middle of the white flesh, there is only one purple-red seed.

4. Taste

There is also a big difference in the taste and flavor of sugar apple and lychee. Sugar apple tastes sweeter, but it has a unique aroma and tastes softer. Lychee is a fruit with a crisp and tender taste. When eating, it has a large amount of water vapor that allows people to absorb a lot of juice. It tastes sweet and tender, and its sugar content is much higher than that of sugar apple.
