Satsuma orange is a hot-selling product in the winter fruit market. It is the best among all oranges and normally has a higher selling price. However, some merchants often sell the cheaper Nanfeng orange as Satsuma orange for profit. So what is the difference between them? How should we choose Satsuma orange?

The difference between Nanfeng orange and Shatang orange

1. Taste Difference

Although both Nanfeng orange and Satsuma orange are common varieties of oranges, there are obvious differences between them. Nanfeng orange has a relatively large yield and a slightly sour taste, with a distinct sour taste when eaten. Satsuma orange is a particularly sweet fruit with almost no sour taste when eaten.

2. Appearance color

There are also certain differences in the appearance color of Nanfeng oranges and Shatang oranges. The peel of Nanfeng oranges is mostly orange-yellow and particularly smooth, while although Shatang oranges are also orange-yellow, their color is darker. When you look closely, you will find that they are a bit more orange-red, and there are many sand spots on their peel.

3. Taste

There is also a clear difference in taste between Nanfeng oranges and Satsuma oranges. Although both fruits taste very fresh and tender and have a lot of juice, you will often eat the core of the Nanfeng orange, and there will be a small amount of residue in the flesh after eating it. Satsuma oranges do not have cores, and there will be no residue in the flesh after eating it.

How to choose tangerines

When choosing a tangerine, you should first look at its appearance. A good quality tangerine has an oblate appearance, and the flesh is bright orange-red after peeling. There are a lot of small sand spots on its peel, and it feels smooth and rough when touched. You can also taste it to see if it is juicy and sweet. When tasting it, you should pay special attention to see if the tangerine is free of residue and seeds. If there is residue after eating, it means it is a fake tangerine.
