Control of Downy Mildew in Red Grapes

Control of Downy Mildew in Red Grapes

Red grapes have many advantages such as high yield, long shelf life and late maturity, but this kind of grape is particularly prone to downy mildew during its growth period. If it is not prevented and treated in time, it will cause a large-scale reduction in production, affecting the quality of red grapes and causing serious economic losses to fruit farmers. In fact, there are many ways to prevent and treat downy mildew of red grapes. Fruit farmers who want to learn can go and see with me.

Control of Downy Mildew in Red Grapes

1. You can choose disease-resistant varieties

There are many different varieties of red grapes. Some varieties are more resistant to downy mildew and rarely occur during the growing period. For example, Osmanthus fragrans is a variety with excellent disease resistance. You can plant it in land that has been infected with downy mildew.

2. Clean up the vineyard environment

Downy mildew of red grapes is a stubborn disease. After it occurs once a year, it will reappear every year. In order to prevent its occurrence, fruit farmers should prune fruit trees in late autumn and winter, cut off diseased branches, and thoroughly clean the orchard. All dead leaves and diseased branches in the orchard should be cleared out and burned, which can reduce the chance of downy mildew in the next year.

3. Chemical control drug treatment

When red grapes do not have downy mildew, but pathogens that are conducive to downy mildew are present, Bordeaux solution can be sprayed once every five days for five consecutive times to effectively prevent the occurrence of downy mildew. If prevention is not timely and red grapes have downy mildew, the drug oxadimethoxine and tetramethoxazole can be sprayed together for treatment.
