What are the taboos for eating hawthorn?

Hawthorn has high medicinal value, so many people love to eat it. But do you know the taboos of eating hawthorn? Let me tell you below.

According to experts, most gastric stones are plant-based, which are caused by eating large amounts of persimmons, black dates or hawthorns on an empty stomach. Since these fruits contain tannic acid with strong astringency, especially immature fruits, tannic acid protein is formed after contact with gastric acid, which is difficult to dissolve in water. After condensing into blocks with pectin and plant fiber, gastric stones are formed.

Do not eat hawthorn on an empty stomach

Eating hawthorn and persimmon on an empty stomach results in "stones" forming in the stomach. Several hospitals in Anshan City, Liaoning Province have recently received several such patients. Doctors warn that eating these two types of fruits on an empty stomach can easily cause chemical reactions in the stomach, and in severe cases, "gastric stones" may form, affecting health.

Among them, Anshan Central Hospital treated a man in his 40s. Before the patient was admitted to the hospital, he was almost unable to straighten his back due to severe stomach pain. After examination at the hospital, it was found that he had a gray-green round gastric stone with a diameter of about one centimeter in his stomach. As this "stone" rubbed back and forth in the stomach, it had caused ulcers on the patient's stomach wall.

After questioning, the doctor learned that the patient loved eating hawthorn. Recently, he saw someone selling large hawthorns in the market, so he bought a lot of them at once. He ate them on an empty stomach every morning and soon developed stomach pain symptoms.

Coincidentally, Angangxi Hospital also admitted a female patient who had gastric stones due to eating persimmons on an empty stomach. It was reported that the woman had eaten two large persimmons on an empty stomach, and after three or four days, her stomach was in unbearable pain. Upon examination, it was found that a gastric stone the size of an egg yolk had formed in the woman's stomach.
