At present, Linhai has 180,000 mu of citrus fruit bases, and a continuous "Hundred Mile Orange Belt" and Yongquan 10,000 mu of high-quality fruit base have been formed from the coastal plain to the western mountainous area. The city produces 230,000 tons of tangerines annually, with 250,000 direct and indirect employees and an annual output value of 380 million yuan, becoming a major pillar industry of Linhai's economy.

In order to achieve the transformation of Linhai's citrus from quantity to quality, with the focus on "creating famous brands and establishing characteristics", the city introduced pruning, cultivation and mechanical sorting technologies of citrus fruits from Japan and South Korea; at the same time, it vigorously carried out the construction of citrus famous brand projects, established a 10,000-mu citrus high-quality fruit base and a provincial citrus demonstration park covering an area of ​​505 mu, with an annual output of 100,000 tons of famous and high-quality citrus fruits, of which the demonstration park has an output of 3,600 kilograms per mu, with an output value of more than 5,500 yuan per mu, and passed the provincial acceptance in October 1998. In November 1999, it was listed as the only "Intellectual Introduction Demonstration Base" in the country by the State Administration of Foreign Experts.

In 1999, Yongquan honey tangerines were the most expensive in China and were reported by many national media such as the People's Daily.
