How to grow kumquat trees? Cultivation techniques for kumquat trees

Kumquat is a species of Rutaceae plant. Its fruit can be eaten by humans when ripe, and the small kumquat can also be made into potted plants and cultivated indoors. It has both leaf and fruit ornamental value and is particularly high. However, there are certain methods and techniques for cultivating kumquat. If it is not cultivated properly, it will cause the kumquat to die or shed leaves, and its ornamental value will also decrease. Today, I will introduce to you the knowledge related to kumquat tree cultivation, so that you can fully understand how to grow this plant.

How to grow kumquat trees? Cultivation techniques for kumquat trees

1. Appropriate light

When growing a kumquat tree, you must provide it with appropriate light, because this plant needs sufficient sunlight during its growth period. If there is insufficient sunlight, its branches and leaves will grow too long, which will affect the number of fruits it produces. However, the kumquat tree is afraid of direct sunlight after entering the hot summer, so it is necessary to provide it with necessary shading treatment.

2. Adequate fertilization

Kumquat tree is a green ornamental plant that likes fertilizer. When growing it at home, you must apply enough base fertilizer to it, and apply top dressing in time during its normal growth period. Especially after it enters the budding stage and flowering and fruiting stage, it should be fertilized every 7 days. You can choose a thin liquid fertilizer, or you can apply more phosphorus fertilizer, which is conducive to the development of flower buds.

3. Reasonable watering

Kumquat trees need to be watered properly during the cultivation period. Although this plant likes a humid environment, it is afraid of waterlogging. Under normal circumstances, as long as the soil in the flowerpot is kept slightly moist, the water can evaporate quickly in the hot summer. At this time, the amount of watering should be increased, and water should be sprayed on the leaves in time to increase the air humidity. Only in this way can the kumquat tree grow normally. However, after entering the cold winter, the number of watering should be reduced. Excessive watering will cause the roots of the kumquat tree to rot.

4. Timely pruning

Kumquat trees need to be pruned in time during the cultivation period. Only in this way can they maintain their beautiful tree shape and produce more beautiful fruits. The kumquat trees did not sprout this spring, so they needed to be pruned before that. The dead branches, diseased and insect-infested branches, and overgrown branches should be cut off, leaving only the strong and evenly distributed branches. Leave 2 to 3 buds on each branch and cut off the others.
