They don’t know how to grow this plant or what to pay attention to when growing it. Today, the editor will specifically introduce this knowledge.

How to grow Christmas cactus? How to grow Christmas cactus?

1. Reproduction method

The Christmas cactus plant is usually propagated by grafting. The most suitable time for grafting is in late spring and early summer, which is the peak growth season for Christmas cactus. You can choose ideal scion and rootstock. The grafted Christmas cactus at this time is not easy to rot, and the survival rate is particularly high.

2. Flowerpots and soil

It is best to use clay pots to grow Christmas cactus, but plastic pots or ceramic pots can also be used. This plant likes fertile and loose soil. When growing it at home, you can use three parts of garden soil, four parts of leaf mold and three parts of river sand to prepare nutrient soil. After the nutrient soil is prepared, the soil must be treated by high-temperature disinfection or exposure to the sun for sterilization before the Christmas cactus can be planted in the soil.

Precautions for growing Christmas cactus

1. Watering

When growing Christmas cactus, watering is a point that everyone needs to pay special attention to, because Christmas cactus is an epiphyte, and cactus likes humid valleys in nature. When cultivating, it is also necessary to provide it with corresponding humidity and let it absorb sufficient water. Especially in the hot season, it should be watered every two days, but the watering time cannot be at noon. While watering, you should also spray water on its leaves to increase the air humidity.

2. Fertilization

Fertilization is also something that people need to pay special attention to when raising Christmas cactus, because Christmas cactus itself is a fertilizer-loving plant. It can only grow more branches and bloom more beautiful flowers when there is sufficient fertilizer. When Christmas cactus is in its peak growth season, it should be top-dressed every 15 days. After it enters the flowering period, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied in time. In autumn, after the Christmas cactus flower is over, the number of fertilizations should be reduced, and fertilization can be stopped after it enters the winter dormancy state.
