How to propagate Black King Kong by cuttings? Tips on propagating Black King Kong by cuttings

Black King Kong is a rubber tree, a foliage plant with a particularly high ornamental value. This plant is elegant and generous when made into a potted plant, with large leaves, which can beautify the environment and purify the air. Many people like to grow it at home, but people don’t know much about the propagation method of Black King Kong. They only know that it can be propagated by plugging, but don’t know how to do it specifically.

How to propagate black diamond

The cuttings of Black King Kong can be combined with plant pruning. When pruning Black King Kong, the cut branches can be directly made into cuttings. The leaves at the bottom can be removed, leaving only the leaves on the top. Then insert it into sterile river sand or vermiculite and water it with enough water.

Black King Kong cutting method skills

1. When propagating Black King Kong by cuttings, you must choose the right time. It can be propagated by cuttings between May and September every year, but the survival rate is highest between May and June. This is also a good time to prune Black King Kong. When pruning it, remove the branches and choose those with aging at the bottom, that is, semi-lignified branches to make cuttings.

2. Remove the leaves at the bottom of the cut branches, leaving only two to three leaves on the upper part of the branches, and then put the branches in a cool environment to dry for one to two days. At the same time, prepare the substrate for cuttings. Sterile river sand or clean vermiculite are suitable as the substrate for cuttings of black diamond.

3. Insert the cuttings made of black diamond directly into the prepared substrate, fix it, water it, and then place it in a semi-shaded environment for cultivation. During the cultivation period, spray water on its leaves every day to increase the air humidity and keep the substrate moist, but do not allow water to accumulate in the substrate, otherwise it will be detrimental to rooting and easily cause the cuttings to fail. After three weeks of cultivation, reduce the number of water sprays and increase the light appropriately. In a dozen days, the black diamond will grow new roots.
