How to grow Japanese gardenias? Gardenia cultivation method tutorial

Japanese Gardenia is a popular variety in the Chinese flower market. It belongs to the Rubiaceae family. It has green leaves and is evergreen all year round. It can bloom beautiful white flowers in spring and summer every year, and its ornamental value is particularly high. However, this plant is native to Japan. How should it be cultivated after being introduced into my country?

1. Choose the right culture soil

When people grow Japanese proton flowers, they must choose the most suitable culture soil for them. This plant likes slightly acidic soil, and the pH value of the soil should be between 5 and 6. When preparing the culture soil, it is best to choose compound leaf soil and peat soil plus an appropriate amount of garden soil. In addition, you can also buy special soil for growing Clivia directly in the flower market.

2. Reasonable fertilization

Japanese gardenia is a fertilizer-loving plant, but it cannot be fertilized during its cultivation. Before planting, 3% of decomposed cake fertilizer can be added to the nutrient soil. After it enters the growth season, you can try to add some ferrous sulfate. After it enters the flowering period, potassium dihydrogen phosphate should be added to the site, so that its flowers can be large and fragrant.

3. Adequate lighting

Japanese Gardenia is a plant that likes plenty of sunlight. It is necessary to provide it with a sunny environment when it is cultivated. If it is placed in a cool environment for a long time, the flower branches will grow too fast, the number of flowers will decrease, and the flowering period will be shortened. When people cultivate Japanese Gardenia, they usually place it in a semi-shaded environment except in the hot summer every year. At other times, it can be cultivated in the sun.

4. Timely pruning

During the cultivation period of Japanese gardenia, even if it is on vacation, when its trunk grows to more than 20 cm, the top should be removed in time, leaving 3 to 4 branches. When the branches grow two pairs of leaves, the top should be removed in time. Only in this way can it grow more branches. In addition, after the Japanese gardenia blooms every year, its weak and leggy branches should be removed in time. Only in this way can it have a beautiful shape and high ornamental value.
