Osmanthus has a strong fragrance and golden color, and there are many different varieties that can emit fragrance all year round. However, the osmanthus people see are tall osmanthus trees. They usually want to grow them at home but don’t know how to do it. In fact, osmanthus can be made into potted plants and grown at home. Today I will specifically introduce the relevant knowledge about its indoor cultivation. 1. Prepare potting soil When growing osmanthus indoors, the potting soil needs to be very heavy. This plant has strong adaptability, but it particularly likes slightly acidic soil. Usually, you can use leaf mold, garden soil and sand to prepare the potting soil. The ratio between them is five to three to two. After preparation, the pH value should be between five and six. After they are placed in the tray, they are disinfected with potassium permanganate. 2. Reasonable watering Many people will constantly water osmanthus when they grow it indoors. This is wrong. It must be watered reasonably in sunny and planned places. This plant likes high temperature and dry environment. It should be watered less when it enters the new sprout period and on rainy days. However, after entering the hot and dry weather in summer, the amount of watering should be increased, and the soil moisture content must be kept at about 50%. 3. Fertilization techniques There are certain techniques for fertilizing osmanthus when growing it indoors. This plant particularly likes pig manure. When fertilizing, you can compost the collected pig manure, then dilute it with water to make liquid manure, and fertilize it every ten days. In this way, after August, the osmanthus will bloom in large numbers, and the fragrance will be particularly strong. If there is no pig manure, you can apply more composted cake fertilizer water to it. 4. Moderate pruning When growing an osmanthus tree indoors, you must choose one with a short and strong trunk and thick branches and leaves. You must also prune it in time after it goes to work, especially in spring and autumn. You can cut off all the dense branches, dead branches and long branches, and pay attention to the pruning of the shape of the osmanthus plant. Only in this way can its ornamental value be continuously improved and its shape can be kept beautiful and generous. |
