Water hibiscus is one of the top ten famous flowers in China. It is also called lotus or lotus. It is an aquatic plant that blooms mostly in summer every year. It has bright colors and large flowers, and has a high ornamental value. It can also be made into potted plants and cultivated at home. However, people don’t know much about its cultivation methods and dare not try it easily. Today I will give a comprehensive introduction to the cultivation methods of water hibiscus, and I will also tell you what you need to pay attention to when cultivating water hibiscus. I believe that after reading it, you will know how to cultivate water hibiscus.

Farming methods

1. Choose a container

When growing water hibiscus at home, you must choose a suitable container in advance. The container for growing water hibiscus should be tall or flat. Their diameter should be between 55 cm and 65 cm, and the depth should be between 30 cm and 40 cm.

2. Planting

After preparing the container, put in an appropriate amount of decomposed bean cake and pig manure, or human feces and urine, and then add an appropriate amount of fertile soil to make it into a thin mud. Then take two to three sections of lotus root, leaving buds at the tail and the top, and plant it in the prepared thin mud. Do not add water within a week after planting. Keep the lotus root firmly in the mud to facilitate the growth of new buds.

3. Add water in time

After the lotus root grows new upright leaves, you should start adding water to the container. Do not add too much water at one time. You should water it every 2 to 3 days until the water is full. In the process of adding water, the heart it grows will continue to grow, and its leaves will always float on the water.

4. Apply fertilizer in time

When growing water hibiscus at home, due to the limitations of the container, the nutrients absorbed by the water hibiscus will be affected to a certain extent, which requires people to apply fertilizer in time. Generally, top dressing is required once a month after planting, and then again when 1 to 2 leaves appear. Fertilizer should be dilute, decomposed human feces or other organic fertilizers, and concentrated fertilizers must be avoided.

Precautions

The method of cultivating water hibiscus is very simple, but during the cultivation process you must pay attention to the amount of water in the tank. The water level cannot be too low because it is an aquatic plant. If the water level is too low and there is insufficient water, it will affect the normal growth of water hibiscus.
