Geranium cultivation methods and precautions

Geranium cultivation methods and precautions

Geranium is a herb. It doesn't like too much water, but it likes sunlight. It stays green all year round, with no changes in spring, summer, autumn or winter. The cultivation method of geranium is a bit troublesome. Today we will take a look at the cultivation method and precautions of geranium.

How to grow geranium

Controlling temperature

The most suitable temperature for geranium growth is 10 to 20 degrees Celsius, which means that spring and autumn are the most suitable seasons for geranium growth. Winter and summer are not very suitable because winter is too cold and summer is too hot.

Control Moisture

Because geraniums don't like too much water, you must be careful not to water them too much. If the roots of geraniums rot, it may be caused by excessive watering and hot weather. It is recommended to water them every three or two days. Be sure to water them thoroughly each time.

Choose the soil

The most suitable soil for geraniums to survive is sandy soil. If you are worried that you cannot grow them well, you can buy some soil at the flower market and mix some sand into it. This will result in better results.

Be aware of the effects of bad weather

Geraniums are most afraid of strong winds, because strong winds can blow geraniums off. Also, you should pay attention to rainy weather, because if there is too much rain, the roots of geraniums will be soaked in rain water, and long-term soaking in rain water will cause root rot.

Controlled fertilization

Don't fertilize too much, or the geranium will become dehydrated. The amount of fertilizer you apply depends on the quality of the geranium soil, the size of the geranium pot, and the size of the geranium, so it is recommended that you ask the seller about the amount and frequency of fertilizer when buying flowers. If you fertilize too much, it will cause the geranium to grow wildly and not bloom.

Plenty of sunlight

If you want geraniums to bloom, they need plenty of sunlight, but you should also be careful not to let the temperature be too high, because geraniums cannot be exposed to direct sunlight, so it is recommended to expose them to more sunlight in spring and autumn.

Geranium precautions

Geraniums are prone to leaf spot and wilt diseases. If the leaf edges turn yellow, you should consult someone who specializes in selling geraniums. Do not dispose of them casually.
