How to grow potted lotus

Over the years, everyone has had a good impression of lotus. Zhou Dunyi especially loved lotus and wrote, "I only love the lotus that grows out of mud without being stained, and washes in the clear water without being coquettish." He gave a very high evaluation of lotus and the lotus symbolizes nobility, purity and elegance. Lotus is even more beautiful when it blooms, so many people want to plant lotus for viewing, and thus potted lotus appears. Potted lotus refers to potted bowl lotus and water lily, which are planted in pots for viewing.

How to grow potted lotus

1. The soil for potted lotus should be pond mud or rice field mud with more humus, and the impurities in it should be removed. The thickness should be about 10 to 15 cm. You can also add some feces, bean cakes, vegetables and other substances to the soil.

2. The planting time of potted lotus should be chosen in late March. If it is planted too early, the lotus root nodes are easy to rot, which will lead to poor breathing, insufficient nutrient absorption, and difficulty in flowering. Even if it blooms, it will not look good.

3. When planting lotus, you should first soften the surface soil, add chopped base fertilizer, then cover it with soil and place the lotus on top. Arrange them in the same direction and let the buds protrude slightly.

4. After 30-45 days of planting, leaves of potted lotus will grow out of the water. At this time, you can apply organic fertilizer and ensure that there is sufficient water in the pot.

5. When the weather turns cooler, the lotus enters a dormant period. At this time, you can stop fertilizing and reduce the amount of water. Also, pay attention to keeping warm to avoid frostbite. Potted lotus needs to be replanted every year to ensure that there is enough space and nutrients.
