Taro planting methods and precautions

Taro is a nutritious vegetable with a large sales volume in the market. It is a good cash crop and is very suitable for farmers to grow. However, some farmers do not know how to grow taro and do not plant it blindly. In fact, the planting method of taro is not complicated. I will write down its planting method in a while. Farmers who want to grow taro can study it carefully.

How to plant taro

1. Sowing of taro

Taro is a plant with strong vitality. It is usually sown at the end of the frost season in early winter. The seeds should be selected from bulbs without wounds, and the top buds should be well preserved. The weight should be about 50 grams. Before sowing, you can take out the preserved taro seeds and put them in the sun for two days, and then put them in wet sand for germination. The taro sprouts will grow in about 20 days, and then you can directly sow them.

2. Topdressing of taro

When sowing taro, sufficient base fertilizer should be applied. When it enters the vigorous growth period, top dressing should be applied in time. Top dressing should be applied once in its seedling stage, which can be beneficial to the rapid growth of the seedlings. Top dressing should be applied two to three times in its middle growth period. Fertilizers should be nitrogen fertilizer, potassium fertilizer and phosphorus fertilizer, and they should be used together each time top dressing is applied.

3. Water supply during taro growth

The taro plant also has high requirements for water during its growth. The leaves of this plant are relatively large and the evaporation effect is obvious, so it needs a lot of water during its growth. If the soil is dry, its leaves will turn yellow. However, in the early stage of taro growth, the external temperature is low and it cannot be overwatered. After it enters the middle and late stages of growth, the water demand increases. At this time, it should be watered every fifteen to twenty days.
