How to grow black tomatoes How to grow black tomatoes

The technology for growing black tomatoes is very advanced, and the management level also needs to be at a certain level, so let me tell you how to grow black tomatoes.

Notes on germination and seedling raising of small black tomatoes:

1. Seed germination temperature: 25°C. Note that the germination potential of seeds above 28°C is inhibited. Variable temperature germination is the best to ensure uniform seedling size. The reference temperature change amplitude is 25 degrees--20 degrees--25 degrees--20 degrees

2. The seeds of this variety are too small, with about 700 seeds per gram, which is half the size of other tomato seeds. They have weak germination potential and are difficult to emerge. Therefore, it is recommended to germinate them first, and then sow them in seedling cups after they turn white to further cultivate strong seedlings.

2. Pay attention to virus disease control and prevention from seedling raising to field management, because black tomatoes are obviously not very resistant to diseases.

3. Pay attention to organic cultivation throughout the process and reduce the supply of nitrogen fertilizers as much as possible to improve quality.

4. After the fruits begin to mature, be careful to reduce watering as much as possible to prevent fruit cracking.

Black tomato seedling and cultivation technology:

Climate conditions: It can be planted all over the country, but the temperature must be stable between 12-35℃, which is suitable for open field planting. Shade is required above 35℃; greenhouse planting is required below 10℃.

Land preparation and ridge making: For the land for transplanting and cultivating black tomatoes, deep plowing should be carried out to a depth of 25-30 cm.

Apply additional base fertilizer: Generally, apply 2,000 kg of farmyard manure, 10 kg of mixed compound fertilizer and 10 kg of superphosphate per mu. In addition, apply 10 kg of fully decomposed and fermented vegetable cake fertilizer as basic base fertilizer per mu when making ridges.

Planting and watering: The day before planting, water the seedbed thoroughly, cut the clumps into ridges the next day, and dig deep drainage ditches to reduce water accumulation. It is important to avoid heavy watering during planting, after planting, and before fruit setting.

Planting seedlings: When the seedlings are 10-25 cm tall, have 5-7 true leaves or are 50 days old, choose a windless, sunny day to plant them in time. It is best to plant them before it rains. After planting, you must water them once to allow the roots to settle.

Planting density: Generally, 2,000 plants are planted per mu. Black tomato varieties are best planted in north-south ridges. It is recommended that the ridge width be 1 meter, with 2 rows and a plant spacing of 35 cm.

Planting depth: Do not plant too deep or too shallow (3-4cm into the soil is appropriate). When planting, you can plant the seedlings at a 45-degree angle (with the stem tip exposed above slightly tilted to the south) to reduce the height of the seedlings above the ground, promote adventitious roots, and prevent lodging and sunburn.

Trellis tying: Adjust vegetative growth and reproductive growth, promote vigorous growth of seedlings and fruits. Black tomato trellises are mostly made of herringbone trellises, four-corner trellises, and nylon ropes. Generally, when the first layer of inflorescences bear fruit, the vines need to be tied, and the tightness should be moderate to leave room for stem growth.

Pruning and pruning: When growing black tomatoes in the open field, prune the main stem and prune under the first inflorescence to leave only 1-2 side branches. Be careful not to prune before or during the rain or when the dew has not dried to prevent disease. In the late growth stage, remove the lower old leaves, diseased leaves, and diseased fruits to facilitate ventilation and light transmission, and reduce damage from diseases and insects.

Top dressing and irrigation: When entering the fruit setting period, the plants need sufficient nutrients and water. Thin fertilizers should be applied frequently in combination with irrigation to meet the needs of rapid growth and development of black tomato plants and fruits.

Preserve flowers and fruits: Vibration pollination is used during the flowering period of black tomatoes, and fruit setting agent can be used. The concentration is controlled at 10mg/kg. Watering should be controlled during the flowering period, and fertilizer should be sprayed on the leaves. Fertilizer and water management during the fruit ripening period should be evenly distributed to prevent fruit cracking. Side branches are very likely to occur between the leaf axils, so they must be pruned frequently and in a timely manner.

Single plant yield: Under normal conditions of temperature control and field management, fruit can be harvested continuously for 4-8 months, and the single plant yield is generally 3-5 kilograms. When managed well, the single plant yield can reach more than 10 kilograms.

Fruit harvesting: Field black tomatoes can be harvested about 60 days after planting. It is best to harvest them during the color change or half-ripe stage for storage or long-distance transportation. It is best to harvest fresh fruits when they are nearly ripe. Early harvesting can increase the early yield and output value, and is conducive to the growth and development of the flower spikes and fruits on the upper part of the plant.
