What is eggplant virus disease? How to prevent and control eggplant virus disease

What should we do if eggplants have viral diseases during their growth? Today, let me tell you in detail:

Eggplant Symptoms

Eggplant virus disease has occurred more severely in recent years, and is most common in protected areas. Its symptom types are complex, with common mosaic necrosis and mosaic mottle types. The upper new leaves are mottled with yellow and green. When the disease is severe, the leaves shrink and there are sores on the leaves. Sometimes there are purple-brown necrotic spots on the leaves, which are more obvious on the back of the leaves. Disease pattern The virus is transmitted by contact friction (TMV) and by aphids (CMV). High temperature and drought, a large number of aphids, extensive management, and frequent weeds in the field will lead to severe diseases. The peak of the disease occurs in the high temperature season from June to August.

Prevention and treatment methods

① Seed disinfection: Establish disease-free seed fields and select virus-free seeds. Seed disinfection can be carried out before sowing. Seeds can be soaked in 10% trisodium phosphate solution for 20 minutes, and then washed with clean water before sowing. Or soak the seeds in cold water for 4 to 6 hours, and then soak them in 1000 times 1.5% plant disease emulsion for 10 minutes, and then remove them and sow directly. If conditions permit, dry seeds can be placed in a 70℃ constant temperature box for dry heat disinfection for 72 hours. Note that seeds that are not dry enough cannot be dry heat treated, otherwise the seeds will be roasted to death.

② To prevent and control aphids, hang or lay silver-gray plastic film or nylon mesh in the greenhouse, shed or open-field beds to effectively repel vegetable aphids. If necessary, spray pesticides to kill aphids and reduce the transmission of viruses.

③ There is no ideal treatment for viral diseases. You can use 500 times of 20% virus A wettable powder, 300 times of 0.5% anti-virus agent No. 1 water solution, 500 times of 20% virus net, 500 times of 20% virus killer, 500 times of 5% fungus and virus water solution, 500 times of 20% virus Ning, 400-600 times of anti-virus wettable powder, or 1000 times of 1.5% plant disease emulsion and other agents for spraying. Spray once every 5-7 days for 2-3 times in a row. The following three types of inhibitors can be tried. One is the virus passivation substance, such as high-protein substances such as soy milk and milk, diluted 100-200 times with clean water, and sprayed on eggplant plants to weaken the virus's ability to infect and passivate the virus. You can also spray the plant virus inactivator-912. Add a small amount of warm water to every 7.5 grams of powder to make a paste, then add 100 grams of boiling water to soak for 12 hours, stir well, add 1.5 kg of water after cooling, and spray once after planting, in the early fruiting period, and in the early and late fruiting period. Second, protective substances, such as sodium alginate (also known as kelp glue), are sprayed on the plants to form a protective film to prevent and weaken the invasion of viruses without affecting the growth of vegetables, ventilation and light transmission, and will not produce drug resistance.

The third is resistance-enhancing substances, which can inhibit the movement and proliferation of viruses in the plant body after being absorbed by the plant. You can spray NS-83 resistance-enhancing agent (also known as mixed fatty acids) 100 times liquid for a total of 3 times, once 15 days before planting, once 2 days before planting, and once again after planting, which can inactivate the TMV virus.
