onion

Onion, also known as bulb onion, round onion, jade onion, shallot, belongs to the genus Allium of the Liliaceae family and is a perennial herb. It is native to western Asia and has a history of more than 5,000 years. In 1000 BC, onions were introduced to Egypt, then to the Mediterranean region, to the United States in the 16th century, to Japan in the 17th century, and to my country in the early 20th century.

Onions are cultivated in all parts of my country and are available all year round. The edible part of onions is the underground large bulb (i.e. onion head). According to the color of the skin, they can be divided into three types: white skin, yellow skin and red skin. The white skin type has a small bulb, white or slightly green in appearance, tender flesh, juicy and spicy, light leaves, good quality, and suitable for eating raw.
