Today I will tell you about the requirements for the growing environment of tomatoes: (1) Temperature:Tomato is a thermophilic vegetable. Under normal conditions, the optimum temperature for assimilation is 20-25°C, and the optimum soil temperature for root growth is 20-22°C. Increasing soil temperature can not only promote root development, but also significantly increase the nitrate nitrogen content in the soil, accelerate growth and development, and increase yield. (2) Lighting:Tomato is a light-loving crop, and the light saturation point is 70000lx. The suitable light intensity is 30000~50000lx. Tomato is a short-day plant, which basically requires short-day in the process of transitioning from vegetative growth to reproductive growth, but the requirement is not strict. Some varieties can bud and bloom early under short-day, and most varieties bloom early under 11~13h of sunshine, and the plants grow strong. (3) Water content:Tomatoes need more water, but they do not need frequent and large-scale irrigation. Generally, soil humidity of 60-80% and air humidity of 45-50% are appropriate. High air humidity not only hinders normal pollination, but also causes serious diseases under high temperature and high humidity conditions. (4) Soil and nutrition:Tomatoes are not very demanding on soil conditions, but in order to obtain high yields and promote good root development, fertile loam with deep soil layers, good drainage, and rich in organic matter should be selected. The soil pH should be between pH 6 and 7, and overly acidic or alkaline soils should be improved. During the growth process, tomatoes need to absorb a large amount of nutrients from the soil. According to Ageristan, for every 5,000 kg of fruit produced, 33 kg of potassium oxide, 10 kg of nitrogen, and 5 kg of phosphoric acid need to be absorbed from the soil. |
