Many people have eaten salted Spanish mackerel. It is easy to preserve, tender, nutritious, and can be eaten in many ways. It can be steamed or grilled, but how is salted Spanish mackerel pickled? What is its pickling method? If you want to know, you can follow the editor to have a look.

Pickling method

1. Processing Spanish mackerel

Before pickling salted mackerel, you need to process the fish first. When buying mackerel, it is best to choose the kind that is slightly damp. Such fish tastes best after being pickled. Wash the prepared fish, remove the water, and then use a knife to cut a cut from the liver to the back of the mackerel. In this way, the mackerel will suddenly become slices.

2. Pickling

Put the processed Spanish mackerel in a ceramic basin, and prepare salt in the ratio of one pound of fish to two ounces of salt. Sprinkle a layer of fish with one layer of salt, and repeat this process. Finally, put in all the excess salt and marinate it in a cool place for 24 hours.

3. Drying

After the Spanish mackerel is marinated, it should be taken out and dried. Be sure to choose a sunny day. After taking out the marinated Spanish mackerel, tie a rope from the tail and then place it in the sun to dry. With the help of the combined effect of wind and sunlight, it can be dried quickly. Most of the time, it can be dried in 3 to 5 days.

4. Stew

The salted mackerel cannot be eaten directly after drying. You need to put them in a porcelain jar, seal the mouth, and let air in. Keep them in a warm environment for about a week. The salted mackerel in the jar will turn a little red, and you can smell the rich aroma of salted mackerel after opening it. Take them out and dry them in the sun, then store them directly. You can cook and eat them whenever you want.

Precautions

When people pickle salted mackerel at home, they will find that it will attract a large number of flies during the drying process, which is particularly annoying. The best way at this time is to apply a proper amount of cornmeal on the surface of the salted mackerel, which can make its fishy smell lighter and reduce its attractiveness to flies, making the salted mackerel cleaner.
