The effect of hawthorn Shenqu porridge

2. Hawthorn acid also has a cardiotonic effect and is also beneficial for senile heart disease;

3. It can stimulate appetite and help digestion, especially for eliminating meat stagnation. Many digestive medicines use hawthorn.

4. Hawthorn has the effect of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, which helps to relieve local blood stasis and has an auxiliary effect on traumatic injuries;

5. Hawthorn has a contraction effect on the uterus, which can help pregnant women to give birth and promote the recovery of the uterus after childbirth.

6. The flavonoids, vitamin C, carotene and other substances contained in hawthorn can block and reduce the generation of free radicals, enhance the body's immunity, and have anti-aging and anti-cancer effects;

The effect of hawthorn Shenqu porridge

This product is a fermented medicine made by mixing Polygonum hydropiper, Artemisia annua, and almonds with flour or bran. This product was originally produced in Fujian, but is now produced in various places, with slightly different preparation methods and specifications. Generally, a large amount of wheat flour, bran, almond paste, red bean powder, and fresh Artemisia annua, fresh Xanthium sibiricum, and natural juice of Polygonum hydropiper are mixed and stirred evenly to make it neither dry nor wet, and then made into small pieces, put into a pot, covered with hemp leaves or paper mulberry leaves, and kept warm for a week. After the mycelium (raw yellow coat) grows, take it out and dry it. It can be used raw or fried until it has a slightly burnt aroma.

Shenqu is in square or rectangular blocks, about 3 cm in diameter and 1 cm thick. It is earthy yellow in color, rough, hard and brittle, and easy to break. The cross section is uneven and off-white, with un-crushed brown residue and fermented voids visible. It has a stale smell and tastes bitter. The best ones are dry, aged, free of insects, and with few impurities.

Depending on the processing methods, it can be divided into Shenqu, fried Shenqu, fried Shenqu with bran and scorched Shenqu. After processing, it is stored in a dry container in a ventilated and dry place to prevent moth damage.
