Wheat porridge

Introduction to wheat porridge

The porridge recipe is suitable for the treatment or prevention of neurasthenia, insomnia, spontaneous sweating, night sweats and other diseases. This recipe is selected from "Diet Debate", the author is Zhang Mu, also known as Xingyun, an ancient Fan person in the Qing Dynasty. Zhang studied medicine. Based on the statement in Suwen? Yuji Zhenzang Lun that "porridge enters the stomach, diarrhea stops and the weak will survive", he believed that "porridge can replace ginseng and Astragalus." He also said: "All medicines are warm, cool, tonic and purgative, and have different properties. Once swallowed, they are spread by the stomach qi. The patient's stomach qi cannot move quickly, and it stays for a while. The smell of the medicine will be different... What effect is there? It only uses grain qi to assist the stomach qi and uses hot air to speed up its movement and respond to the effect, which is completely beyond the reach of decoctions. I quoted the ancients' essence of using porridge to treat diseases, which has not been revealed for thousands of years." On the basis of the predecessors and combined with his own clinical practice, Zhang selected 55 recipes of ginseng porridge, astragalus porridge, sea cucumber porridge, bird's nest porridge, etc. in the book "Food Debate". Wheat porridge was selected from the second volume of the book "Food Debate for Treating Diseases".

30-60 grams of wheat, 2 taels of japonica rice, and 5 dates.

It nourishes the mind, stops spontaneous sweating, and nourishes the spleen and stomach. It is suitable for insufficient heart qi, nervous palpitations, restlessness, insomnia, women's zang-mania (referring to symptoms of mental confusion, frequent yawning, sadness and crying), spontaneous sweating, night sweats, and spleen deficiency diarrhea.

Washing wheat, boiling it with water, and then removing the wheat for medicinal use has a long history in my country. For example, Tao Hongjing, a thinker and doctor during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, pointed out the medicinal value of wheat in "Famous Doctors' Records", which said that wheat can "remove heat, stop thirst, promote urination, nourish liver qi, and stop bleeding and spitting blood." "New Materia Medica" believes that wheat can "nourish the heart, benefit the kidneys, harmonize blood, and strengthen the spleen."

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that Huai wheat is the best for nourishing the heart and calming the mind, and floating wheat is the best for astringing sweat and stopping sweating. Huai wheat is the prescription name of wheat. It tastes sweet, has a flat nature, and can enter the heart meridian. Its calming effect is stronger than floating wheat. It should be used to cook Huai wheat porridge for symptoms such as restlessness, trance, insomnia, nervous palpitations, and restlessness. The famous Chinese medicine prescription for treating women's zang-mania, "Licorice wheat and jujube soup", is the Huai wheat used. Floating wheat tastes sweet and salty and is cool in nature. It is good at stopping all kinds of sweating. Li Shizhen's "Compendium of Materia Medica" said that it "replenishes qi and removes heat, stops spontaneous sweating, night sweats, bone steaming and heat, and women's fatigue fever". Therefore, to astringe sweating, it is appropriate to use floating wheat decoction to cook porridge. In the "Diet Debate Record, Volume 2" by Zhang Mu of the Qing Dynasty, it is recorded: "Wheat porridge. It calms the mind, reduces sweating, quenches thirst, and relieves restlessness. First boil the wheat, remove the wheat juice and add it to rice to cook porridge. The older the better." Adding jujube as an ingredient can not only add flavor, but more importantly, jujube has the functions of replenishing qi and blood, nourishing the mind, and regulating the nutrient and defensive systems. For symptoms such as palpitations, gynecological irritability, qi and blood deficiency, spontaneous sweating and night sweats, eating porridge with wheat can significantly enhance the therapeutic effect.

According to clinical medication, wheat is divided into Huai wheat and floating wheat, which should be selected according to the condition. A course of treatment is 3 to 5 days, and it should be taken warm 2 to 3 times a day.

"Yinshi Zhengyao Volume 2" states: "To treat thirst and dry mouth, wash wheat thoroughly, no matter how much, cook it into porridge or rice and eat it on an empty stomach."

"Shengji Zhengyao? Food Therapy? Food Therapy for Red and White Dysentery": "To treat red and white dysentery that does not stop, spleen and stomach qi deficiency, and indigestion, use the wheat koji porridge recipe. Fry wheat koji until it turns yellow, one liang, and wash and clean glutinous rice, two he. Mix the above two ingredients, cook with water to make porridge, and eat it on an empty stomach. It can also treat innocent dysentery in children. You can add or subtract the amount to eat."

"Porridge Recipe? Porridge Products 1? Cereals": "Wheat porridge nourishes the heart qi, relieves thirst, treats stranguria, soothes liver qi, and treats bleeding and spitting blood. Floating wheat porridge replenishes qi and eliminates heat, stops night sweats due to heart deficiency, and stops sweating."
