How to judge whether the sugar apple is ripe? What to do if the sugar apple is not ripe after cutting it?

Sugar apple, also known as Buddha's head fruit, is a small green fruit with a lot of protrusions on the surface. This fruit is mainly produced in Taiwan and tropical areas of Southeast Asia. It is relatively rare in the domestic fruit market, so some people don't know how to judge whether it is ripe after buying it. Sugar apple is a late-ripening fruit. If it is not fully ripe after purchase, it can be ripened as necessary.

How to judge whether Custard Apple is ripe

1. To judge whether the sugar apple is ripe, you can look at the integrity of its peel, because after the sugar apple is fully ripe, its peel will naturally crack at the top, and when you press its peel with your hand, natural juice will flow out from the crack. The peel of sugar apples that are not fully ripe will remain intact, and there will be no cracks on the top.

2. To judge whether the sugar-apple is ripe, you can also look at its surface color, because the sugar-apple skin is bright green before it is fully ripe, and after it is fully ripe, its green skin will change or even turn black. However, if the skin of the sugar-apple surface turns black or spots appear, it means that it has rotted and deteriorated and cannot be eaten.

3. The feel is also an important basis for judging whether the sugar-apple is ripe. Because when the sugar-apple is not ripe, the water content is relatively high. When pressed by hand, it will feel hard and have no elasticity at all. However, after the sugar-apple is ripe, the water content will decrease and the flesh will become soft. At this time, when you press its skin, it will feel softer and have good elasticity.

What to do if the sugar apple is not ripe after being cut

Some people, after buying sugar-apple, don't know how to judge whether it is fully ripe, so they cut it directly with a fruit knife. After cutting, they find that the sugar-apple is not yet ripe. At this time, the best way is to put it in a clean convenient bag with naturally ripened fruits such as apples and pears and seal it. When you take it out the next day, you will find that the flesh of the sugar-apple has become soft and can be eaten directly.
