How to grow pitaya How to grow pitaya

Dragon fruit is very popular in life. It is not only delicious and has a natural aroma, but also has a very high nutritional value. It also has excellent therapeutic effects, can delay aging, and prevent diseases. After learning about the benefits of dragon fruit, many people want to grow it at home, but they don’t know how to start or how to grow it. Today, I will share some professional experience with you.

1. Planting method

There are many different ways to grow pitaya, such as wall planting, shed planting, and column cultivation, which are all common ways to grow pitaya. However, among all the planting methods, only column cultivation has high land utilization and particularly high yield. More than 400 pitaya plants can be planted per acre, and the economic benefits can be considerable after successful planting.

2. Fertilizer and water management

Fertilizer and water management is particularly important when planting pitaya. The root system of this plant is particularly shallow. Its root system is most active two to five centimeters below the surface. It is drought-resistant and not afraid of waterlogging. When watering, you can only water the roots, not the whole plant or the field. Pitaya should also be fertilized in time during its growth period. It is best to choose decomposed farmyard manure. After it enters the flowering and fruiting period, you can apply an appropriate amount of phosphorus fertilizer and potassium fertilizer.

3. Field management

After planting dragon fruit, you must also pay attention to field management, especially after entering the hot summer weather. If the weather is dry, you must water it in time, but you must also drain the accumulated water in time on rainy days to prevent bacterial and fungal infections. Never allow water to accumulate in the field, otherwise its roots will rot and pests and diseases will be prevalent.

4. Pest and disease control

When planting dragon fruit, you should also pay attention to pest control. This plant is not prone to pests and diseases, but when ventilation conditions are poor, the flesh will rot. At this time, just remove the rotten part in time and then apply raw stone and raw ash. In addition, dragon fruit will be harmed by ants and snails during its growth period. At this time, just spray alcohol and mosquito repellent in time to eliminate them and prevent them from biting the fruit and tender buds.
