How to identify ripe strawberries

How to identify ripe strawberries

Fruit ripening has now become a common phenomenon, especially strawberries, which are expensive in winter and are the focus of ripening. If they can be put on the market one day earlier, fruit farmers can gain more profits. However, these ripened strawberries should not be eaten too much, as they will be harmful to your health. Children in particular should not eat ripened strawberries. So how can you know whether the strawberries are ripened?

1. Look at the shape

When you want to tell whether strawberries are ripened artificially, you can look at their shape. Strawberries that are ripened with drugs will often become deformed during the growth process. They will look particularly large and have irregular shapes. Some strawberries will even be hollow. Naturally ripened strawberries will not have these problems.

2. Smell the aroma

To distinguish ripened strawberries, you can also put fresh strawberries under your nose and smell them. Those naturally ripened fresh strawberries have a strong fruity aroma, and you can smell the sweet smell of strawberries, while those artificially ripened strawberries do not produce these odors. If too much drug is applied, a more unpleasant smell may appear.

3. Look at the color

Color is also an important way for people to distinguish ripened strawberries. Those naturally ripened strawberries are all red, and the red is natural. Although most artificially ripened strawberries are also red, the red is harder to touch, and some places are naturally green. This is caused by uneven contact with the drug during ripening.

4. Taste

You can also tell whether strawberries are ripened artificially by their taste. Naturally ripened strawberries are sweeter and less sour, while artificially ripened strawberries are less sweet and particularly sour. People can tell the difference just by tasting them themselves.

5. Feel

You can also tell whether the strawberries are ripened by the feel, because artificially ripened strawberries feel very hard and it feels like you can't press them with your hands. However, naturally ripened strawberries feel relatively soft and juice will flow out with a light press of your hand.
