Cultivation methods and precautions of potted yew

Potted yew is an ornamental plant that many people like to grow at home. It has a beautiful tree shape, green leaves and a particularly high ornamental value. This plant is known as a national treasure in the plant kingdom and is a national first-class protected plant. If you want to make it into a potted plant and grow it at home, you need to understand its cultivation method in advance, and you also need to know what to pay attention to when growing potted yew.

Cultivation method of potted yew

1. Preparation of potting soil

The preparation of potting soil for growing potted yew is very important. It likes loose, slightly acidic soil with high organic matter content. The soil should have strong water and fertilizer retention capabilities and good air permeability. It is best to choose garden soil, peat, river sand and other materials to prepare the potting soil yourself, and apply enough base fertilizer before planting.

2. Breeding environment

The yew plant likes a warm and humid environment, and it is a strong shade-loving and slow-growing tree species. It is usually made into a potted plant and cultivated at home. It can be placed indoors, away from strong light. It grows fastest when the outside temperature is between 20 and 30 degrees. It has poor low-temperature resistance, so it should be placed in an environment above ten degrees in winter.

Notes on breeding

1. Fertilizer selection

When growing potted yew, it is often necessary to fertilize because it is a fertilizer-loving plant. However, you must be more careful when choosing fertilizer for yew. During its growing season, you should apply thin cakes and fertilizer water. After entering autumn, you can use base fertilizer once. The fertilizer can be livestock manure. In spring, yew needs to be applied with sufficient nitrogen fertilizer, phosphorus fertilizer, and potassium fertilizer, as well as sufficient calcium phosphate.

2. Water control

If you want to grow potted yew well, water control is very important. Although yew likes a humid environment, it is afraid of waterlogging. During the cultivation period, water it every 2 to 3 days. In summer, water it every morning in hot weather. After entering autumn, the weather becomes cooler, the growth of yew slows down, and the need for water will also decrease. At this time, water it every 4 to 5 days. And when watering, you must not let water accumulate in the flowerpot, otherwise the roots of yew will rot, and in serious cases, yew will die.
