How to cultivate longevity grass? How to cultivate longevity grass

Kalanchoe, also known as tomorrow grass or Hachijo grass, is a unique plant native to Japan's Longevity Island and was later introduced to all parts of the world. It is a perennial herb, nearly yellow-green in color, and will ooze yellow juice when cut. It has strong vitality and high ornamental value. People like to make it into potted plants and grow it at home, but people don’t know much about the cultivation methods of Kalanchoe. Today, the editor will give you a detailed introduction and tell you how to cultivate Kalanchoe.

1. Choose the right flower pot and soil

When growing Kalanchoe at home, you should choose a clay pot or plastic pot with good air permeability, a diameter of about 25 cm, and a depth of about 17 cm. The soil in the pot should account for 70% of the clay, so that it can press its roots, and about two taels of cake fertilizer should be put in each pot.

2. Master the correct planting time

It is very important to master the correct planting time when growing Kalanchoe at home. People plant Kalanchoe from mid-April to the end of October. The planting method should be mainly based on cutting propagation. Before insertion, the soil in the flowerpot should be moistened first, and then the old branches of the Kalanchoe should be inserted into the potting soil. Compact the soil with soil and water it enough. Generally, new roots will grow in about ten days.

3. Daily maintenance of longevity grass

Daily maintenance is very important for growing longevity grass. The longevity grass that has just been inserted into the flowerpot cannot be exposed to the sun and should be placed in a cool and ventilated place. In addition, after entering midsummer, the longevity grass cannot be exposed to the sun and must be shaded as necessary. After entering winter, the longevity grass should be moved indoors to prevent frostbite. In summer, water it every three days, and in winter, water it every five days. Fertilize it regularly and check for diseases at any time.
