Chlorophytum cultivation methods and precautions

Chlorophytum cultivation methods and precautions

Chlorophytum has a good air purification effect, just like a small air purifier, it can absorb 80% of toxic gases, such as formaldehyde gas. Therefore, you will see many friends growing Chlorophytum at home. Today I will briefly introduce the cultivation methods and precautions of Chlorophytum.

How to grow Chlorophytum comosum

1. Lighting

Chlorophytum prefers warm, humid and semi-shady environment.

2. Temperature

The most suitable temperature for spider plant growth is 15℃ to 25℃, and it can withstand temperatures as low as -5℃ in winter.

3. Soil

Chlorophytum is suitable for growing in loose, fertile soil with good water retention. The potting soil configuration ratio is garden soil: leaf humus: river sand = 4:4:2.

4. Watering

The temperature is high in late spring, summer and early autumn, so you need to water frequently to keep the soil moist, and spray some water around the plant regularly. The temperature is relatively low in spring, autumn and winter, so you need to control watering to keep the soil dry.

5. Fertilization

During the growth period of Chlorophytum, there should be sufficient fertilizer and water. Apply thin liquid fertilizer once every 10-15 days, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, with appropriate amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. No fertilizer is required in the high temperature in summer, and no fertilizer is required in winter when the temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius.

Things to note when growing Chlorophytum

Do not apply too much fertilizer, exceeding the plant's needs. If the leaves of the spider plant are shiny and uneven, the roots will rot and the leaves will turn yellow. You should stop fertilizing, water more, or repot the plant to clean the roots and replace the soil.

Chlorophytum needs at least four hours of scattered light every day, otherwise the chlorophyll will decrease and the leaves will turn yellow.
