How to cook zongzi Tips to keep zongzi from falling apart

Cooking zongzi is a traditional custom of the Dragon Boat Festival. In the past, every household would cook zongzi by themselves, and the fragrance of zongzi filled the air. Although I seldom make or cook zongzi now, it is still okay to try it occasionally, which can make my Dragon Boat Festival more meaningful.

How to cook zongzi Tips to keep zongzi from falling apart

1. How to cook zongzi without it falling apart - Cooking in a pressure cooker

Step 1: After adding water to the pressure cooker, put in the rice dumplings and cover the pressure cooker.

Step 2: Cook the pressure cooker over high heat until steam comes out, then turn to medium or low heat.

Step 3: After the pressure cooker is deflated, turn off the heat and do not open the lid.

Step 4: Simmer for 20 minutes.

Cooking zongzi in a pressure cooker saves time and effort, and takes less time than cooking in an ordinary soup pot. Because it takes less time, the zongzi is less likely to fall apart.

2. How to Cook Zongzi Without Falling Apart - Steamed Zongzi

Step 1: Add some water into the steamer and then put the steamer in.

Step 2: Place the rice dumplings in the steamer and steam them in water.

Step 3: Wait until the water boils and then steam the rice dumplings for about twenty minutes.

Steamed rice dumplings are not as soggy as boiled ones, so they have a firm texture and are very delicious.

3. Tips for eating Zongzi

Zongzi is mostly made of glutinous rice, so eating zongzi in moderation is good for people, but eating too much is another matter. Glutinous rice itself is not a very easy food to digest. Although it is a staple food, it is still not recommended to eat too much. No more than five zongzi a day.
