How to store ice cubes How to store ice cubes Storage methods and tips

In life, some food ingredients and medicines need to be transported and stored in a low-temperature environment. In this case, ice is indispensable. In summer, people also want to have some ice cubes to cool down. But how should the ice be stored after it is made? Next, I will share knowledge about this aspect.

How to store ice

1. Ordinary ice commonly seen in life can only be stored in the refrigerator, because ordinary ice is a block condensed with water, and its melting point is zero degrees. As long as it is kept in an environment above zero degrees, it will melt into liquid water.

2. Ice can also be stored in a sealed foam box. This will allow the ice inside to be kept for about 24 hours without melting. Because the foam box isolates the ice from the outside world and prevents its temperature from rising, it can be kept for a longer time. However, after a long time, the ice inside will melt into water.

How to store ice cubes

1. The ice used to preserve food and medicine in life is not ice condensed from water, but dry ice made from solid carbon dioxide. The temperature of this ice can reach minus 78 degrees Celsius, and after the temperature rises, it can directly sublimate into colorless, odorless, and non-toxic carbon dioxide, and it can produce a lot of white mist when sublimating. This kind of ice is very particular when it is stored, and most of the time it needs to be allowed to evaporate naturally, because dry ice is prone to explosion if it is not stored properly.

2. When storing dry ice, it should be stored in a special freezer. Such dry ice can be stored for 5 to 10 days, but dry ice will slowly vaporize after the shelf life. In addition, small pieces of dry ice can be directly stored in a thermos at home, because the thermos has a vacuum insulation layer, and its volatile gas will slowly release from the surface. Such dry ice can be stored for 24 to 48 hours. After it is completely released, people can only see an empty thermos with nothing left inside.
